Only Thieves Block Pop-ups
Anti-Leech.com claims that using pop up blockers amounts to theft, but they can protect your site from such culprits; they even ask you to try stealing from them. [via Slashdot]
I understand their point: that blocking pop-ups is the equivalent of stealing because advertisers pay for the free sites we visit and if we were to block pop ups, i.e. not view the advertising, then it would be the equivalent of not paying for the site.
What Anti-Leech fails to understand, however, is how this is any different than changing channels during television commercials? Advertisers only pay for the right to present their ad in a certain fashion, but I'm not sure they can make any claim that viewers/users will see, let alone read, their ad. [Thanks to Paul for the link and insight.]
