Requesting Permission

Professor Felten suggests that rather than trampling on the copyrights of corporations, we simply call them and ask for exceptions to their stated rules. He also provides examples of when such permission is necessary, such as asking WalMart's permission to tell your friends about their prices or TBS to fast-forward through their commercials, who knows -- they might just grant it.
