Perspective: Domain Name Speculation

Last year I thought *wow* dotUS registration opens and there's an opportunity to get really short domain names -- which is great if people we're still typing urls into the address bar -- but apparently evertone types directly into google no matter how short the url, even cnn.com. So why did I register kjh.us and kjhlaw.us? I thought hey these are great, they are short and easy to remember.

Apparently they are very confusing. There are even some forms that won't accept dotUS email addresses as valid. So even if I can eventually take some time to optimize and submit these urls to the search engine for higher placement and better results; they seem almost useless for email.

TechLawAdvisor.com on the other hand is too long and far down in the alphabet to be of any practical use and apparently is subject to mis-spelling. So I'm stuck.

Then .pro comes along -- if I thought dotUS had a chance (registration for less than $10 at godaddy); how will .pro ever make it? Off the bat it is extremely pricy and second requires subdomains -- if you can't figure out dotUS how will anyone ever remember dotLAWdotPRO.

What's my point -- nothing -- I just needed to vent.
