More on Domain Name Speculation
A few days ago, News 14 Charlotte reported that the new Charlotte NBA franchise had failed to secure its domain name registrations prior to announcing some of the potential names it was considering for the team. Turns out several enterprising individuals, including an NBA employee, have registered the potential domain names.
And the winner is --- Michael Saya who registered charlottebobcats.com. Saya indicated that the team offered him $1,000 and some tickets, but they never came to an agreement. If it was me, I'd pass on the money and see if I could get a couple games in the front row every year for life plus right of first refusal to playoff games. On a side note, I was hoping they went with Charlotte Flight.
Random thought of the day
Dot-pro offers what is considered a third-level domain names to its registrants: myfirm.law.pro. Can such a domain violate trademark rights and be subject to a udrp or acpa proceeding? Also, how are they getting away with offering third-level domains at such ridiculous prices?
