Tough Break for Microsoft

February 10, 2004: Brenda Sandburg has this article in The Recorder that U.S. District Judge John Coughenour of W.D.WA ruled that a jury must consider whether Windows was a generic term 20 years ago. Microsoft, which is currenly suing Lindows.com for trademark infringement, had argued that the only present-day usage of the word should be considered in determining whether it is generic.

Todd Bishop who runs seattlepi's Microsoft blog has a collection of the Lindows case documents.

February 18, 2004: Lindows is now calling itself Lindash in those countries where Microsoft has blocked the availability of the desktop Linux distribution after a recent Amsterdam court ruling.
