All over Paris

Reuters reports that a Los Angeles judge has thrown out the invasion of privacy lawsuit Paris Hilton filed against Kahatani that distributed the infamous "One Night in Paris' video of her engaging in consensual intercourse with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon.

Update: Paris has also reportedly settled with Salomon and stands to earn about $400,000 plus a percentage of the sales -- and has decided that her share of the proceeds is going to charity. Salomon has also dropped his lawsuit alleging slander, however, the article contradicts the Reuters article above saying that Hilton dropped her violation of privacy suit against Kahatani. Not exactly on topic, but it does involve distribution via the internet and the right to privacy: "Reality TV star Paris Hilton has sued a Panama-based Internet company for $30 million, claiming that it illegally distributed a now-infamous tape of her having sex with an ex-boyfriend." Dan M. has the transcript and The Smoking Gun has info on the defamation suit filed by Rick Salomon in Los Angeles Superior Court against Paris for wrongfully accusing him of improper/criminal conduct in connection with the filming of the video and the tape's subsequent sale to an internet porn site.

Marvad: "Salomon's failure to identify [Paris] Hilton as a co-author on the application for copyright registration renders the certificate of registration invalid and fraudulent," ... said the documents filed by Marvad Corp., which asked District Judge Dean Pregerson to dismiss Rick Salomon'S lawsuit, alleging that Marvad violated his copyright by distributing clips of the video on its Web site, sexbrat.comon, on the basis that Hilton also held rights to the video.
