Lofty Goals
I was just reviewing the goals of the Tech Law Advisor web site that I wrote back in August 2002. And then I re-read the description of the site. I think I've done a pretty decent job staying focused over the past 26 months and plan on continuing to do so. I guess I just wanted to inform anyone new to the blog or that may be mistaken about its purpose -- that my focus is the application of intellectual property laws such as trademark and copyright to the internet.
Specifically, those instances when those laws go too far and attempt to hinder other rights such as free speech, freedom of contract, fair use etc. Although, the site is called tech law advisor, this is first and foremost a site that discusses intellectual property law and policy at its intersection to the internet and technology that connects to the internet.

Laws are good. However, how could laws be enforced over the Internet which neither has any boundaries nor any demarcations found in the real world. A law passed in one country as as good as non-existent in another. Under such circumstances, shouldn't the drafting of legislation be delayed till some sort of agreement is reached between the countries for enforcing such laws?
