Owens-Sheridan Irk Viewers and FCC
Not sure if anyone who saw this post (FCC needs to Define) complained to the FCC over the "Desperate Terrell" opener to MNF
While I didn't find anything problematic with the opening, it's good that we continue to generate complaints until we get some defined standards. Hopefully, the FCC will continue to allow us to see Nicollette's bare backside. I also hope that the complaints weren't generated because of racism as some have suggested (in the comments) -- promo video also available at this link.
More reactions: Stephen A. Smith - The issue was skin - both black and white
3-14-05 update: FCC says MNF opening not indecency: The FCC has denied indecency complaints against ABC's Monday Night Football promo featuring Desperate Housewife Nicolette Sheridan and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens.
The opening, which has generated complaints to ABC and the FCC, featured actress Nicollette Sheridan of the hit show "Desperate Housewives" in the locker room, wearing only a towel and provocatively asking Philadelphia Eagles star Terrell Owens to skip the game for her. She drops the towel and jumps into the arms of Owens. Sheridan was shown only from behind and above the waist after dropping the towel. FCC pans ABC's Judgmentbut Powell has taken note: "I wonder if Walt Disney would be proud."

From what I've read elsewhere, it seems that the fact that my children are not of MNF watching age may be why I didn't think it was problematic.
I suspect the race issue was as important. Just look what happened over Janet Jackson, nothing unnatural about a nipple, we all see them in our first day on earth. However, a black nipple was too much for middle-class America.
Good point. I hadn't even considered that.
