900 Days and Counting

Not quite sure how many posts though. I know that it's in excess of 1500 in the last 900 days, but can't give you an exact figure because Blogger stopped updating how many posts I've written 4 or 5 months ago. Anyway, since I'm running out of things to say, I thought I'd update my introduction.

Bio: Kevin Heller is the author/editor of TechlawAdvisor.com, founder of the Induce Act Blog, and a contributor to Blawg Channel.

I am also an intellectual property and internet law attorney. I am admitted to practice law in both state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey.

At Cardozo law school, I was President of the Intellectual Property Law Society and Symposium Editor for the Cardozo Journal of International Law, but rather than publish my paper as a note in my journal, I had it published as an article in the Cardozo Online Journal of Conflict Resolution.

From 2000 to 2003, I worked at intellectual property litigation boutiques handling both plaintiff and defense work in the areas of copyright, trademark, domain names and libel/defamation matters. Since then I have continued to represent, advise and counsel individuals and corporations on such matters.

I began blogging in May 2001 pseudo-anonymously and my exploits received the attention of several companies and b-c-d list celebrities/athletes who felt that the site was either violating dmca, copyright, trademark (gripe site) or privacy rights. I saw it as an opportunity to take a look at the law from a new perspective (but still an entirely legal one). I used the site(s) as a vehicle for the expression of fair use and free speech rights.

I started writing at TechLawAdvisor.com in August 2002 in order to help others understand those same rights in the online digital environment. Blogger recognized it as a Blog of Note in January 2003 (the same week they got bought by Google) and several other publications have had similar nice things to say (partial list available here).

I started on this journey some 900 days ago or so and it's provided me the opportunity to meet many interesting and extremely intelligent people; and to learn a great deal. I hope to continue on and to continue to provide a voice to the debate.

Thanks for reading.
