Free as in Music
J. Douglas Miller discovered Public Domain Music: "The web site includes a listing of songs, music, sound effects recordings, and the like which have been dedicated to the public domain, and can be used without having to pay a royalty."
USA Today has provided me with purevolume.com, where struggling bands post free files for sampling.
New article on mp3 blogs, Music's cease-fire zone, says that "MP3 blogs are safe middle ground in the downloading wars. Some labels even see them as a marketing tool." [via]
But hold on consumers, Andrew Raff wants us to first read this: How Much Is Your Stolen Music Worth?: "willfully infringe on a copyright and face statutory damages of up to $150,000" per work.
